Benson Njobvu

Lecturer, School of Education in the Department of Library and
Information Studies, University of Zambia

A lecturer (and former Head of Department) in UNZA’s Department of Library and Information Science, Benson’s long, collegial relationship with us dates back to his days heading the British Council’s National Knowledge Centre and, later, the Library and Information Association of Zambia. He is the Electronic for Libraries Intellectual Property representative for Zambia, and he has undertaken research for various external organisations, including the British Council, the Environmental Council of Zambia, the Ministry of Commerce Trade and Industry, and Zambezi River Authority. Benson has been supportive of Lubuto’s work from the get-go. On a recent visit to one of the Lubuto libraries, he was thrilled to see its lively environment. He noted that the children attending the library were underprivileged young people who felt more at home there than at any other place: “It is not an exaggeration to say that Lubuto Library Partners are indeed contributing to raising a responsible generation of young people in Zambia.” Benson holds a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from Strathclyde University in Scotland.
